DVD Menu Review
I have chosen the Mighty Boosh series 2 DVD menu as other than being a great series it has a great DVD menu to add to it’s wonderful creation.
You have the classic play all, episodes, extras and what not but the magic is in how you see the shop in where the episodes are set and you see the magic train of stationary village going around the set on a repeat trail. I like this as also every highlighted link you click on weather its extras or play all it goes to a separate new scene in where you can choose what you want to see. This is a really good idea, which I would love to use in the future.
It’s a new age way of DVD menu’s as some of the older DVD menu’s just feature a picture from the film and a basic menu with options and play film and if you were lucky scene selection, but it has advanced through the years as in most DVD’s these days the menu gives you the option for ‘special effects’ ‘extras’ and ‘deleted footage’ which would have been anonymous in the early days of DVD.
Most of these DVD menu presentations id left keep repeating which can be extremely annoying if your trying to find the controller to turn it off or get it started, The Rise Of The Foot Solider is a classic example as it seems to have a 30 second montage of clips before it repeats and this can be extremely annoying after the four minutes or so. Most comedies these days for example ‘step brothers’ and ‘scary movie 3’ include others like ‘gag reels’ and ‘alternative endings’ this includes all the ‘unscripted’ bloopers and jokes which weren’t included in the film, personally I think they are most defiantly scripted and most used to fill up the DVD, none the less they are still a good laugh to watch after you have watched the film and feel like you need to watch them all to get the full potential of purchasing the DVD.
Here’s a general list of what every 21st Century DVD will include:
· Extras – If it doesn’t you should take it back seriously this will be in every DVD that’s come out in the last eight years. Unless it’s a b rated movie, which has only just got the material the fit, a feature length film.
· Subtitles – if your English German French or from the other side of the world there will be subtitles sometimes if your luck y even an option to change it to the language you speak.
· Scene Selection - this is a no brainer people want to search through films to find there favorite scene or if they couldn’t finish the film to find out where they left off apart from ‘play’ properly the most important part of the DVD menu.
· FACT - Federation Against Copyright Theft, without doubt this will try to scare you to death about downloading pirate DVD’s.
