Lesson review Formatting

this morning we have been taught about formats and how they are compressed and which formats work best for what. i have researched these formats and found out what they are good at and what they are not as good at.

JPEG: Good at getting images from the internet in good quality but isn't good at printing or in animation. Jpeg stands for joint photographic experts group. JPEG is a lossy compression file.

GIF: Stands for The Graphics Interchange Format, Gif is brilliant for animation and simple fonts and also graphics. But isn't good for quality pictures or photographs. GIF is a loss less compression file.

PNG: Stands for Portable Network Graphics, which is very good for many colours and is excellent and supporting quality photographs. PNG is a Loss less data compression file.

TIFF: Tagged Image File Format, this is good for storing images and fine art, although it isn't good for displaying images online. Tiff is a loss less compression file.

SVG: Stands for Scalable Vector Graphics, is a family of specifications of XML-based file format for describing two-dimensional vector graphics, both static and moving.

Raster Graphics vs Vector Graphics: Raster supports bitmap images which are bigger files but are less quality for example when zoomed in you can see the pixels all blurry were as a vector graphic is much better quality here are some examples

WK 3: HTML

Today we learned how to use HTML and how to use it in a effective way and will be very useful when setting up websites and updating are blog pages. HTML hyper text mark up language, which essentially means a coded language which the internet understands. It can define the website the layout and set up links which is useful and quick for users.

Elements:An HTML element is everything from the start tag to the end tag
*

This is a paragraph

* this is a link

Tags: * HTML tags are keywords surrounded by angle brackets like
* HTML tags most always come in pairs like and
* The first tag in a pair is the start tag, the second tag is the end tag
* Start and end tags are also called opening tags and closing tags

Formatting: this is the type of font size and font for example the way the text is shown and what size.

Attributes: * HTML elements can have attributes
* Attributes provide all kinds of information about the element
* Attributes are always clear in the start tag
* Attributes come in name/value pairs like: name="value"

Links: The link address is provided as an attribute. Links are defined the tag

Lesson 2 review

This time in my publishing lesson we went to the printing room were we used rollers and ink to Create patterns on to blank white paper where the images would appear clear and impressive. Also we did sun prints and dry point printing which involved using a pin to engrave an image on to a plastic block. i found the lesson interesting and fun as it involved physical printing.

HERO

Lesson

For my first publishing lesson i thought it was very creative, as we had to go around the college finding patterns to shade on with crayons to use as a print impression to put on to materials we had brought in. I found the lesson interesting but i am not a big art fan and i thought the lesson seemed to be in an artistic direction. I would like to see how are impressions come out on the material, as it was amazing to see a chemical take a printing from one object and print it on to the other material. i am looking forward to what we do in publishing, as i like to see how things are done in the publishing word. We also looked at diffrent types of prints and famous artists who used them these were

* Stencil which i choose banksy as my favourite artist in this genre of printing as i think he is very original and i like his comercial pieces.

* Relief which i choose Katsushika Hokusia as we did research on his work in the lesson in which i looked at some of his work which was excellent here it is.
